Flowers Make Me Smile

I don't know about you but flowers make me smile. Here are several floral cards I did this week that I hope you enjoy. I will be posting more later but those are older ones.
This first one is one I did really quickly last night after I picked up this floral paper, which is two-sided with the blue that you see being the back and the flowers being the front, from Family Memories in Charlotte, NC. Then I went to check out a new scrapbook store in Charlotte called Oh Scrap! (love that name) and picked up the color brown I have been looking all over for, JAVA. I love to cut out flowers and make them stand out. I used Stampin Up's Riding Hood Red Ink for the stamp that I used.

This next one is one I did several days ago I used the top part of a floral stamp made by Anita's that I picked up at AC Moore, I colored it with 2 different water color pencils (2 layers) and then used a green marker for the inside. The paper is brown, white and a pink print that was a hostess gift I got from Stampin Up a couple of years ago. The ribbon is from American Crafts.

Black and White

These are some of my favorite cards I have done. I love the simplicity of the black and white. I love the different ribbons. These are double sided papers and I cut out some of the flowers and matted them for a 3D effect. They are just pretty, that is in my opinion.
Have a great day!

Christmas Time Is Here!!!!

I cannot
believe it is so close to when Santa comes. There are so many things I love about the holidays, decorating (which I am behind on this year), the friends, the family, the lack of stress and the excitement! Hiding things from the kids, and hearing them ask questions about what they think each other will get. I love the holiday symbols. I love that my family understands that we wouldn't have Christmas is it were not for Christ and that is my favorite thing about Christmas.

I made some Christmas cards for my mom to send out to her friends and here are a few of them. I hope each of you have a VERY MERRY CHRISTmas and a happy new year.

Christmas Cards

Here is my second Christmas Card design. I will have to find where I uploaded the first later but this was fun. I have to say they look better in person, however it I really like them. I hope you enjoy. I used the Pick a Petal Stamp set from SU (thanks Dawn M.), Creative Memories and Stampin Up Cardstock, mini glue dots, glitter glue and gold embossing powder. The star stamp was one of those $1 deals (I think). I pierced a couple and then used a dash/dot border on the other. I am going to write Merry Christmas on them with a gold marker or place a stamped sentiment, as I do those and send them I will update them. So much fun!!!!!

October 28, 2008, Upward Soccer Banquet

Tonight was my boys' Upward Soccer Banquet. It was a good time and the kids were so great! Our church did such a great job at putting this together. The coach, Mr. Furr, was wonderful so I wanted to make a card that thanked him for what he had done. This is the card.

Unity Stamps

Okay here is my submission to the Unity Stamps gallery on split coast. This was so much fun and just to add to the "witchy" effect, I did it backwards so that the card opens from left to right instead of from right to left. I really like the stamp set, my friend Dawn brought over last Wednesday and shared. The "i luv being witchy" caught my eye and for my friends; Yes, I know it is sooo me. :) Seriously though, I do like this set and then I found this GREAT paper by Cloud 9. It is another member of their Sparkle Cardstock and the name is Sparkle Cat Circles. I used ribbon I had on hand and did a little twist, it is Halloween right?!? and then I used Stampin Up water color pencils and black marker to color and make the borders. I also used crystal effects to add some glitter to my image to match the paper. I used Creative Memories cardstock (black and the orange pattern) and the other paper I got from Family Memories in Charlotte, NC. This card was really fun for me and when my son looked at me and said, "Mommy, you are an artist." I almost cried so it really is more special than most of my cards.

It's Fall...

This was fun! I love fall and the fall holidays. This is a card I did for my brother. He visited me when I was in the hospital and brought me and card and just was very caring to call and check on me regularly. I used several different techniques doing this, I colored with water color pencils, embossed with versa mark and clear embossing powder and then just cut out each piece and applied it to the card with tape or glue dots. I always do the brads and then adhere the paper, i don't like the brads going through the paper so that you can see it when you open it. If I do the brads through because of necessity I always put a new piece of paper on the inside to hide them. These stamps are a combination of 3 stamp sets. Fall Whimsy was one of the sets and the other was the Thankful Thoughts and the final was an independent stamp, the hay bales.

I used the hay bales several years ago to make cards for my best friend when she lost her father-in-law and they were out of town so we had to pull a bunch of people together to unload hay before the rain since the funeral and family stuff all happened at the same time. So I made Thank You cards for her to send to those that helped her. They were cute, I hate I didn't take a picture of them.

Here is another couple of cards that I made with the same set:

A Bridal Shower Invitation

What you see here is a bridal invitation for my nephew and his new bride in their wedding colors. The odd typing on the right is blurred out as to not show personal information here online. This

This was made using a stamp from SU, not sure what set, it was borrowed from Dawn and we used the color turquoise and coral for stamping and the card stock as well as the coloring of the brides flowers. I used crystal effects to paint the dress and give it a sparkle, used a brad punch to punch the small holes around the hem of her dress and SU's water color pencils and blender pen to color her hair. I added a sheer white ribbon in a white eyelet on the insert that you pull out with the information. We enclosed a 3x5 index card for a recipe.

To the right is what I made for handouts for the guests at the shower, we picked up the paper gift bags at the dollar store, stamped the same bride on the front as we used on the invitations, stuffed with tulle and filled with Hershey Kisses and mints then tied double silver wedding bands to hold the handles closed. These were a huge hit.
I hope you enjoy!

October 18, 2008

Welcome! This is my first post and I am trying to figure this whole thing out so bear with me as I do.

Here you will see and hear about my favorite things and maybe not so favorite but I love these blogs so I hope you will enjoy.

My first card I am going to post is one I did in September 2008 for my daughter's birthday, we loved it.

The stamp is from Stampin Up (Lots of Thoughts), the ribbon from American Crafts Elements, the pattern paper is from me & my BiG ideas (pattern CC-05), the pinks at the bottom are from a generic card stock I had in my scraps pile. I used the scallop punch from Stampin Up (my friend, Dawn K Mills is my enabler!, she'll kill me for saying that but I love her for it!) and I used a paper piercer to make the pattern along the scallop (again, thanks Dawn).

Okay, so there is my first post; Now, let's see how it looks.

Thanks,

Dawn
